First descent
We (Mike, VJ, Kylie & myself) had our first day up the mountain yesterday. We aptly named it ‘First Descent’ in hounor of the movie. I’m not sure we quite match up in skill to those on the actual movie, but hey - we can dream.
It was a great day. A little windy, but bearable. The snow was nice in places, but man I can’t wait for the upper T-bars to open so we can get access to the back country. Mike and Kirsty would probably suggest we walk up and do it anyway, but that’s just crazy talk… i seem to recall what happened last time I tried walking to the summit, and it involved them both leaving me stranded on an icy face while they took off ahead of me! No more walking/tramping to get places for this boy - it’s chairlifts/t-bars all the way!
Cons for the day: Buggered my ankle the night before. Potentially sprained. I walked off a 1.5m high ledge in the dark where I thought there was a ramp under my feet. As i began to fall I thought “Man, that ramp seems to be a lot lower now…” turns out i completely missed the ramp and walked off the edge, landing in the mud below. No good. I also lost my season pass on the hill somewhere. Oh well, could have been worse I guess! Mike also got a speeding ticket :( A sore end to what was all in all a great day off.

It’s a great way to get fit though, so could help with your previous post.
Plus .. the Glacier and out West are sooooo worth the walk. :)
