Wild on Asia

I nicked this title from my sisters email, but i really feel it’s befitting of our time here. It’s super super cheap to buy anything and everything, and if you wanted to you could live it up like a king. The amount of times I’ve been offered pot, sex, “a good time” etc etc is getting ridiculous. I must look like i’m up for it though, as the girls have not been asked at all!!

But anyway, speaking of cheap things - the food here is outstanding. We’ve been out to various restaurants every night and tried to taste everything possible that’s different and unique - or that just sounds delicious.

Culinary highlights so far are: The best bruchetta (sp?) ever made at a little Spanish(!) restaurant in Phnom Penh - just divine, THE BEST chocolate brownie on that planet at The Sailing Club in Nha Trang (sorry maz and dave, but it beat’s maz’s brownie hands down!), a delicious half lobster at the Cyclo cafe in Nha Trang and copious amounts of seafood at Lac Canh restaurant in Nha Trang, where we enjoyed king prawns, crabs & squid all cooked on our own little hot plate at our table.

The cocktails aren’t bad too. I’m getting into the mojitos (White rum, crushed mint, lemonade, and squeezed lime), and for the non-alcy option they do a mean homemade lemonade which is just squeezed lemon/lime, a bit of sugar syrup and soda. It’s super tasty as the fruit here (oh, the fruit!) is just divine - super succulent and very very sweet. Pineapples taste amazing and the mango’s actually taste like mango’s should rather than the tough bitter things we get back home. Limes are in abundance, so you won’t see anyone here paying $20/kg for this treat!

So yeah, i’m loving the food. so much for loosing a couple of kg’s on this trip huh Had! Mmmm….
